Stepping into the New Year...

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched -
they must be felt with the heart."
Helen Keller

I've been feeling a little bit melancholy this New Year's...
...it probably has something to do with the fact that I'm now old
enough to get into the movies at the senior rate...
(when did that happen???)

A lot of you have written about your resolutions for the new year...
and most all of you who have, have written with such eloquence about your realization
and acceptance of the tides of life...the steps forward and the steps backward...
the realization that resolutions are a step by step process...
sometimes we move forward...and sometimes, not so much...

New Year's is a time to look forward...
to think of new steps...even different paths...
to fulfill your resolutions.

And yes...even if you say you don't make resolutions...I'll bet there's
that niggling feeling inside that's tugging at your heart to
take that step...that different path...

My resolutions?
Probably not all that different from yours...
There's that pesky resolution to lose weight and get more exercise...
Then there's the one about focusing more on my photography projects...
...but what do I really want???
I want to pay more attention to the blessings in my life, rather than my personal failings...
and most important...I want to fully embrace my family and friends...
with all the love and gratitude I feel...and don't express enough...

I truly feel blessed to have "met" so many "virtual" friends
in this blogging experience...

Thank you for stopping by, saying hello, and opening doors across the world!!!
Love to you all!!!

And now....let's all get rolling on those darned resolutions!!!

  4. I know what you mean about the 'senior' business...kind of intimidating, but it has an up side. I just bought my city buss pass. 400 dinars (less than $5.00) to ride the bus all year.....wheee. And I will get window seats to photograph from. My resolutions are very similar to yours.

  5. I like your resolutions, especially the one to pay more attention to the blessings in your life. I think in the hustle and bustle of everday life, it's so easy to forget the wonderful things you have.

  7. I do not make New Years resolutions - my philosophy is to fix something when I figure out it needs fixing. That said, I like your resolutions. I need to stop reacting to negative things so quickly, I want them fixed yesterday and that doesn't always happen.

  8. It's been extremely foggy for the past two days, but today the sky is clear in Elmira, Oregon, and the sun is shining! Your post has reflected my own thoughts this New Year (although I've been able to get into movies with a senior rate for some time now and quite enjoy the perk), so I'm sending my sister a big, warm embrace because you have been a blessing throughout my life.....lots of love from your "little big sis"......

  13. Beautiful words to go with a beautiful sky! I know all about that melancholy - having just had to turn another year older while dealing with the post-holiday let down and January doldrums! I hope that feeling has passed as mine did - most of your post sounds like you're full of enthusiasm and eager for the adventures ahead! Here's wishing you a happy, healthy, fun-filled and fulfilling year!
