Laughing Out Loud!!!

"Earth laughs in flowers."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Last week...on a particularly dreary day...
(yeah...it was before the heat wave and was actually cold that day too!)
...I was on the back deck with Kelly
and thought these yellow flowers to be perfectly cheery!!!

Now don't go asking me what kind of flower they are...
'cause I'm clueless...
All I know is that they're native to our area...
and we've got a bunch of them that just sprout up on their own without
any help from us and give us a bit of cheer!!!

  1. They look like a cross between a sunflower and a daisy. Whatever they are, these self sown beauties are just perfect!

    1. That's a good description of these Karen...except their leaves are quite long and tapered...and a very dusty grey/green....

  2. Aren't freebies the best? They come up on their own, just to make your day, then disappear to sleep for another year. I try to learn the flowers my wife plants, but I'm not always successful.

I don't know their type, but they are beautiful.

  6. Some sort of daisy I'd say Chieftess, aren't they the most glorious colour and such a bonus that they look after themselves..we have similar daisies here in Oz growing wild on road verges, looks really good.

  13. Beautiful. If it likes my garden and is pretty then it may stay. At least as long as it's blooming. I love it when I get surprise blooms
