Our Little Corner of the World...

"What is the purpose of the giant sequoia tree?
The purpose of the giant sequoia tree is to provide shade for the tiny titmouse."
Edward Abbey

Dare I ask???
Just what is the difference between a regular mouse and a tiny titmouse???

  3. titmouse |ˈtitˌmous|
    noun ( pl. titmice )
a small songbird that searches acrobatically for insects among foliage and branches.
[Family Paridae: three genera, esp. Parus, and numerous species, including the chickadees and the tufted titmouse (P. bicolor).]
ORIGIN Middle English: from tit1 + obsolete mose ‘titmouse.’ The change in the ending in the 16th cent. was due to association with mouse, probably because of the bird's size and quick movements.

hee hee... It has nothing to do with what we thought the first syllable meant, nor a mouse! :-)
