"History is a relentless master. It has no present, only the past rushing into the future.
To try to hold fast is to be swept aside."
John F. Kennedy
I don't think JFK had Bodie in mind when he made this statement...
Bodie, California should definitely be on your list of places to visit
if you come to California...
a ghost town in a state of "arrested decay"...
a fascinating place...showing life in the days of the California Gold Rush...

Once you've been there you never forget it!!!Delete
Fine composition. Bodie must be a feast for the photographer.ReplyDelete
It is Dragonstar!!! Occasionally during the year they'll have photographer days where they only allow photographers to come in and shoot...for an extra price of course!!! Some day, I'd like to go there when there's snow (probably too late for that this year!!!) You can't get there driving in then...you have ski, snow mobile, or arrange for a "cat" to take you in.... one of these days!!!Delete
I love your photo. Not so sure about the quote. . .seems too relentless and rapid!ReplyDelete
The older I get though Kate...the more I understand what he was saying here!!!Delete
Nice close-up shot of the window and building. Love the detail.ReplyDelete
Excellent composition, and black and white works well for it.ReplyDelete
I'd like to see the ghost town myself.
It's a fascinating place Wendall! They have tours of the old mines too...Delete

There seem to be quite a few ghost towns scattered around the USA Chieftess, reminders of better days past.ReplyDelete
I'm not sure if these were better days PerthDP!!! Bodie was quite the wild, wild west town in its hey day!!! Lot's of brothels, saloons, murders, and a small smattering of churches to repent in!!! There's a famous quote from a little girl's diary that she wrote just before moving to Bodie..."Goodbye God, I'm going to Bodie."Delete
It's been many years since I've been there. It's been my list every since...ReplyDelete
Bodie and Mono Lake are my two favorite spots up here Pat!!!Delete
Excellent composition. Well doneReplyDelete
