Our Little Corner of the World...

No Mas...Nope...Nada...no more skiing in Mammoth this year!!!

The last weekend of skiing brings on the celebration...

...and the crazy-a$$ outfits...

Then it's off the Cornice and down, down, down...
not to return until next year!!!

(And no...I never skied the Cornice...
I'm rather partial to an intact body...)

  5. That cornice looks like fun to me! :) Yeah the last day of the season here, people also dress up in crazy costumes. But we have one ski area that's still open - Timberline on Mt. Hood. It stays open through the summer.

  6. Spectacular views!

Downhill skiing was never for me, but I like cross country.

  7. You're right Stefan!!! I should have said the last skiing of the season!!! Skiing usually begins again in November! And Linda...two years ago there was good skiing until July 4th...and could've continued throughout the year, but the Mountain's insurance policy restricts the time frame and they must stop on July 4th, regardless of the snow pack!!!

  8. I love that it looks sunny and warm, yet there's snow on the ground.

  11. Okay, now I get the costumes on your next post. (I'm catching up and doing it backwards). It looks like there is still plenty of snow, so why do they close the ski slopes?

    1. Haha!!! I'll bet you were curious!!! There's not really all that much snow, and it's melting fast. Too many dirt spots on the runs. This was taken at the very top of Mammoth Mountain at over 11,000 feet. It's ok snow til about 9000 feet, if you like total slush!!!
