Powder Puff Clouds...

"A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed...
It feels an impulsion...this is the place to go now.
But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds,
and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough
to see beyond horizons."
Richard Bach

These clouds were billowing up above the clouds and smoke from the
Indian Fire at Mono Lake...taken the same day as the fire shots I posted last week..

Full Moon Rising...

full moon over Mono Lake, Califonia

"For most people we often marvel at the beauty of a sunrise
or the magnificence of a full moon,
but it is impossible to fathom the magnitude of the universe that surrounds us."
Richard H. Baker

It's a Silvery Moon...

I want to spoon, to my honey I'll croon love's tune,
Your silvrey beams will bring love dreams, we'll be cuddling soon,
lyrics by Eward Madden
music by Gus Edwards
published in 1909

Fly on over to Skywatch Friday for more sky shots!!!

Another moment in honor of Dixie Jane, whom I'm sure would have loved this foray
back in time...

Shhhh!!!

Don't tell anyone!   This is a secret between you and me...

Not many people know about this boat dock on Mono Lake...
Yep...it's even floating...
it was dry docked for awhile...
but as the lake rises, the dock resumes it's original construct...

Although, I don't recommend taking a motor boat into the lake...
after all, it's 2-3 times saltier than the ocean and we all know what
salt water can do to a motor!!!

If you head on up here and want to visit the dock...just let me know...
but I'll have to blindfold you!!!

Barking up a Tree...

"As the poet said, "Only God can make a tree", probably because it's
so hard to figure out how to get the bark on."
Woody Allen

I'm thinkin' Woody Allen knows what he's talkin' about in this photo!

The Edge of the World...

"Beyond the edge of the world there's a space where emptiness and substance overlap,
where past and future form a continuous, endless loop.
And, hovering about, there are signs no one has ever read,
chords no one has ever heard."
Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore

It's been snowing since Tuesday night...
windy, cold and wet snow...and Kelly needed a walk...
I decided to head down 395 to the edge of the snow...
We ended up at Crowley Lake,
but the edge of the snow was still over the ridge...

Another Spectacular Sky...

"There is one spectacle grander than the sea, that is the sky;
there is one spectacle grander than the sky,
that is the interior of the soul."
Victor Hugo

For those of you who shoot with a Nikon DSLR...
that I'd like to sell...
This was part of my Christmas gift, but I already have an electronic flash so
I don't need this one...
It sells on Amazon.com for $255...
I'd like to sell mine for $150...
Please shoot me an email if you think you might be interested...

Spring is Blooming in Sacramento....

"I said to the almond tree, "Friend, speak to me of God,"
and the almond tree blossomed."
Nikos Kazantazakis

One of the perks of our trip to Sacramento were all the flowers...
I've forgotten how beautiful spring is when it's just breaking out into bloom!

Golden Light, Golden Life...

"Life is the fire that burns and the sun that gives light.
Life is the wind and the rain and the thunder in the sky.
Life is matter and is earth,
what is and what is not,
and what is beyond is in eternity."
Lucius Annaeus Seneca

One thing about a lot of rain...there are also plenty of clouds!

Ecstasy in the Sky...

"An ecstasy is a thing that will not go into words;
it feels like music,
and one cannot tell about music so that another person
can get the feeling of it."
Mark Twain

The Blue Dream of Sky...

"I thank you God for this most amazing day,
for the leaping greenly spirits of trees,
and for the blue dream of sky
and for everything which is natural,
which is infinite,
which is yes."
e.e. cummings

Alpine Glow...

"What is life?
It is the flash of a firefly in the night.
It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime.
It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and
loses itself in the sunset."
Crowfoot

Skywatch Friday in the Galapagos...

"When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon,
my soul expands in the worship of the creator."
Mohandas Gandhi
