Cute Critters????

Have you ever been to the Elephant Seal Rookery just above San Simeon?

During January the females find the beach here and go in to shore 

to birth their babies, rest up, 

and then wait for their Prince Charming to come in from the sea again...

When we were there, we saw the entire beach covered with female Elephant seals.

With a few males sprinkled in here and there...

We saw...

...a baby being birthed

...males fighting for the honor of a female

...males picking the one female he wants and going over hill, dale, and 

any seal in the way to get to her

...seals in the midst of lovemaking

...dead seals

and of course, 

the seagull strutting his stuff in amongst the rest...
