Thats a nice picture! When I started WBW I hoped that we would get more than just "portrait" shots - so this is just the sort of picture I wanted to see more of. Birds as part of a picture as well as pictures of birds!
What a classic shot. Love it. Thanks too for the reference to Watery Wednesday and Wild Bird Wednesday. I am hopeful to have a go on some of these great sites. Cheers! PS George Eliot was born not far from Coventry...got a thought :)
It's a big pond Andy!!! It was definitely peaceful and quiet...
Thanks HansHB!
Thanks Neil!
Thanks eileeninmd!!!
I'm so glad Stewart! I was a bit worried about posting this one because it's so hard to see the bird...
Thanks Gary!
And they were definitely dipping in and out of the water Bibi!!! I tried to catch one going under or coming up but never quite caught it!
Mammoth Lakes is a beautiful area in the Eastern Sierras of California Mary!
Thanks Brian! I don't think they're ducks, but I don't know what they actually are...they were dark, almost black and frequently dove under the water...any help?
I must admit, Margaret, I knew nothing of George Eliot when I found the quote...I just read about 'her' in Wikepedia and was quite astounded!!! She was quite scandalous for those times!!! Pen name, living with her married lover, eventually marrying a man 20 years younger...WOW!!! What a woman!!!
thanks LOL!!! Some how your comment slipped through the cracks...I think I'm going to try something different...skip the moderation and limit to registered users...does this eliminate anyone??? email me if it does!!!
hi, you have a nice shot, but why waste it on Watery Wednesday? Nothing happened tehre since early spring. It is closed. But I have a watermeme, NF Waters. Please join me there.
Comments and replies requires skills which I haven't mastered just yet. I do have a question I asked somewhere about how you like to be addressed. I can't decide whether to call you The Chieftess or Kathryn. Decisions, decisions. PS you got it right re George Eliot, an icon here :).
I just switched to registered users only LOL!!! Thanks for asking about what to call me...I answer to just about anything!!! Either way...whichever is more comfortable for you. I tend to use the blog names for people but also at times you their actual name...which do you prefer???
Answer to anything? Me too! Okay, I will mix it up. LOL got started by our mate, Petrea, and worked because I so desperately wanted to keep myself anonymous. Then facebook/CDP blew that idea out of the water. Doesn't matter now...I am more confident. So anything goes. Take care, Lauren :)
On Golden Pond? There's state of peace and quiet.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I really like the ripples surrounding the duck!
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe it's not a duck. A grebe or a coot, maybe? I still like the ripples. :-)
