Practice Makes Perfect??? Or...Maybe Just Better...

Confucius said...
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do."

You might remember some of my first attempts at macro photography...
I took several photos of a few items in TheChief's mom's home...
click here to see the post I'm referring to...

Well...it's been awhile since then...
and I've been practicing...
(and of course, there's my beautiful macro lens...)
Do you notice a difference???

  1. They are both super! Your latest version has rich colors in the background which, to me, gives this photograph the edge. Like the quote too!

  2. Very nice! I don't think my photos will ever be perfect, but they get much better with practice.

  3. Oh yes definitely better Chieftess, the beautifully muted background plus light and shadow on the figurine is perfect. Nice work indeed.

  8. Thanks LOL!!! At TheChief's mom's house, the Chinaman was on the mantle with a very plain wall behind it...here I have him next to a vase that I keep filled with flowers...against a log wall...very different ambience and it sure makes for a much better background!!!

Thanks Gunilla!!! I agree...Ansel Adams once said "Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop." I guess if he had to practice that many times...we're in good company!!!

Thanks PerthDP!!! I love that the figure has such interesting angles in his face that the shadows really accentuate...

    Thanks Bruce!!!

    Thanks Laura!!! I love macros!!!

    Thanks V!!!

Like I said Chai-and-Chardonnay, we're in good company!!!

  10. I think your first attempts were pretty good. This photo is a closer view of the china man and I noticed for a wood sculpture, he has white teeth.

  16. Ďakujem za tvoju návštevu a komentár. Ja sa tiež učím fotiť makro. Dúfam, že sa to postupne obe naučíme.

Thank you for your visit and comment. I will also learn to take pictures macro. I hope to gradually learn both.
