Oh no I hoped someone would have the answer by now Kath :) I think it's used to tether something, just not sure what.. I'll be back to see if anyone guesses ...
ReplyDeleteSome kind of fancy mooring? It's very cool.
ReplyDeleteNot a clue but I love it!
ReplyDeleteNot so dangerous after all.. For tying horses perhaps?
ReplyDeleteNice old song, and nice photos!
Great detail - love the color and texture!
ReplyDeleteI am with Villrose - for tying horses? But love the pictures anyway!
ReplyDeleteThird vote for horse-tie.
ReplyDeleteI would think for the horses, as well.
ReplyDeleteNow I won't get that song out of my head anytime soon.
Cute! I vote for tying horses as well.
ReplyDeleteI think the horse tethering is the most likely answer...although it was fairly high on the wall...This again was in the Castello di Amaroso in Napa. It was designed after extensive research about medieval castles...so it seems that the horse tether would make sense...there was no description as to what this was so I can't give a definitive answer!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry William!
A wonderful find.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely thing and would go nicely at my house.
ReplyDeleteIf the round part in the front is separate from small hook, maybe for portable lanterns of torches. Otherwise I would go with tethering animals.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh...now that makes sense!!! It was higher than I would have thought for tethering an horse...
DeleteI love him, I would love to find one of him to add to my blaze of dragons!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice find!
