"Generally speaking, a howling wilderness does not howl:
it is the imagination of the traveler that does the howling."
Henry David Thoreau
(Do you see the wolf howling at the moon?
But then again, I still say the tufa look like the moon or a sci fi planet!!!)
Looks quite mystical.ReplyDelete
Thanks Meghan...that's the feeling I had when I was shooting this!!!ReplyDelete
Thank you Laura!!!ReplyDelete
What a beautiful gift from Mother Nature. Yes, I did see the wolf. A most unusual formation. genieReplyDelete
Thanks Genie!!! Mother Nature does some magnificent work!!!ReplyDelete
It seems like it's howling,ReplyDelete
are the rocks on this lake, lime stones?
yes Thomas!!! The fresh water coming into the lake mix with the salt water and create the solid limestone formations, under watet...the lake dropped significantly from LADWP water diversion from the feeder streams to LA for water and the tufa became exposed. The whole area takes on a sci fi look...like a Star Trek set!!! Thanks for visiting!ReplyDelete
Wow! That photo is beautiful...ReplyDelete
