The Escape Artist...

No...It's not Houdini!!!

It's Sadie...
about an hour before the bobcat showed up in front of the house...
(she's an expert at getting past anyone who opens the door!)

It's hard to miss the pure joy
in her escape....

I can't help but think...there's a bit of method to her madness...

Every time she sneaks out...she rolls and rolls...
usually in the dirt...

Could it be that there's some instinct at play here...

Rolling and rolling in the dirt...
getting all that musty smell all over...
and even toning down the white in her coat....

Getting her prepared for her hunt...
so that she doesn't become the hunted???

  1. Good one!
You can take the cat out of nature but not nature out of the cat.

  2. Splendid looking beast! I had a cat that could have escaped from a sealed box!

  5. She has such pretty coloring.

I wonder if the pavement is warm? Cats like the sun, and maybe it just feels good to roll around in it.

  6. She is cute isn't she Dirk!!! Thanks for visiting!!!

The slate was warm Petrea...but that doesn't explain why she often rolls and rolls in the dirt...I don't think it's the same kind of warmth.... Sometimes she rolls numerous different times...
I dunno...I think it's just pure ecstasy at having escaped!!!

  8. I thought the dirt was an aspect of cleaning, but your explanation makes better sense. Plus your girl is gorgeous. Her face is perfectly colored

  10. Thanks PA!!! I found her at the Glendale Humane Society...she was 4 months old. I saw her on their website and knew by her description that she was the one I wanted. We went there, found her, but she was getting over a "cold" and so we couldn't take her home for about a week...she's been happy and healthy ever since!!! And bullies Cleo our elder kitty whenever she can...but that's another story!!!

    Thanks Gunn!!!
