"No matter how sophisticated you may be, a large granite mountain cannot be denied-
it speaks in silence to the very core of your being."
One of my favorite things about living here is the drive from Bishop to Mammoth...
I love to watch how the mountains change...minute to minute...
Throughout the day the shadows move and change the visual contours of the mountains.
Then there are the seasonal changes...
snow drifts in Fall, covered with snow in the winter, and rivulets of melting snow in Spring...
As beautiful as the Western side of the Sierras are...it just doesn't compare to
the stark, rugged beauty of the Eastern Sierras.
These are part of the Sherwin Mountains Range...just south east of Mammoth Lakes...
This particular area of mountain is especially beautiful Brian! The different shades of soil and granite running through the mountain and the shadows from all the graggines make it one of my favorite mountains to see !ReplyDelete
Such great shapes and patterns. I love the look of your mountain.ReplyDelete
beautiful picture !ReplyDelete
That's a beautiful shot. Makes me want to be heading up its slopes...ReplyDelete
I'm thinking you'd love the Eastern Sierras!Delete
Love the ragged shapes and textures of these mountains. A sense of power and presence in these mountains. Glorious in monochrome.ReplyDelete
That's exactly my feelin about the range Gemma!!!Delete
It is indeed a gorgeous spot. Ansel Adams was right.ReplyDelete
Ansel certainly knew the Sierras!! Eastern and Western!!!!Delete
I was thinking that this image reminded me of Ansel Adams - then, you quoted him! Breathtaking!!ReplyDelete
