El Capitan, Yosemite National Park, California |
"But no temple made with hands can compare with Yosemite.
Every rock in its walls seems to glow with life...
as if into this one mountain mansion
Nature had gathered her choicest treasures..."
John Muir
I've shared this before---but it bears noting again. We took a friend in her 50's to Yosemite for the first time, the year after the big floods (98 I think). When we emerged from the tunnels and continued around the valley for a bit, she just exclaimed "Yay GOD!". She, though a lapsed catholic, knew someone larger than us had a hand in all this beauty.
ReplyDeleteI still like her and another friend's reply when someone asks what congregation each attends---Our Lady of the Outdoors!
Definitely God's country Trish!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a picture that I took when I was 7 or so years old. And since my framing cut this grand boy in half, I drew an arrow on the photo and wrote the words, El Capitan.
ReplyDeleteAwww...Hiker...you were a problem solver from the get-go!!!
