Clouds with a silver lining...

"Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold."
Maurice Setter

I have to admit, the other week when the sky was dumping snow on the ground in
the middle of October, I was ticked off.  I grumbled and groused at the fact that just
that past weekend I had been in flip flops and wearing summer clothes...then
all of a sudden it was boots, jackets, hats, and gloves...
Then the sun came out...the clouds lingered but didn't drop loads of snow
anymore and the temperature warmed...
And what a glorious silver lining it was!!!

  1. I just checked your weather gadget and you're at 34 degrees. 34 DEGREES?! Sounds like October in Norway.

  2. I know Hiker!!! We had snow before Sweden, Norway, and Canada!!! Go figure!!! Sunny, warm California???
They are predicting an even longer and snowier winter this year than last...1000 inches of snow is the prediction!!! I may be visiting down south more frequently this year!!! Someone yesterday said..."well...our last storm was 18 inches...only 882 to go!!!"

  3. Snow, in Canada? Where?

As one of my brothers once observed as a teenager, 'in every crowd there's a horse with a silver lining'. Possibly the most mangled metaphor of all time.

  4. See....that's what I'm saying Wayne...where's the snow in Canada, Sweden and Norway if it snowed in California already?!!!

  10. What brought snow to you I think brought us our first good rain all summer...desperately needed. But I know at the end of winter how tired one can get of snow (used to live in the mountains in California before moving to Texas).

Beautiful shot. Love the crisp colors!

  15. Gracias Miriam Luiza!!!

Thank you Write Girl!!! And yes...California is a state of many terrains and climates! We are heading into the northern part of the state and in the mountains at 8000 feet!!! We get very different weather from what we're used to in SoCalifornia!!! They're still sweltering in the heat, and we're in pleasant in-between weather!!! At least now, after the early snow came and went!!!

I'm a bit jealous Spare Parts...although it's been in the 70's here and quite beautiful...the ominous thoughts of a tough winter hang over our heads and make us enjoy this weather all the more!!!

  16. Wonderful shot! We're still running the AC in the AZ desert in the daytime. The evening are finally cooler... almost sweater weather... the time of the year I love best in the desert ... though I do miss the cooler climes..
