It was a Black and White world back then...

This is part of the "stamp" mine in Bodie State Historical Park, California...
If you're ever in this neck of the woods...this is a must see!!!
But don't count on getting back there in the winter...as soon as
the snow sticks and stays, the road becomes relatively impassable...
You can still visit, but you'd better have some cross country skis or a well
gassed snowmobile!!!

  1. wonderful shot! good lines, LOVE the b&w!

and what do you mean "impassable"? Last time I drove that road out to Bodie it was bone rattling around Labor Day weekend without any snow... ;-) I think the only thing more bone rattling was the "road" to Coon Creek Jumpoff out off Hwy 38 near Barton Flats.

  2. excellent composition! There are places like that not so far from where I live...a little bit north...no skis? forget about it!

  3. I was looking on a map, it look pretty isolated, my kind of place! Neat composition, the old timbers are great.

  5. Trish...impassable as in snow!!! The road is not plowed...and the only way back is by cross country or snow mobile!!!

Thanks Laura X, Woody and Louis!!! Bodie is definitely one of my favorite spots to shoot!!!
