Our Little Corner of the World...

Horseshoe Lake last year, after an epic snow year...

This year after a near epic lack of snow year...

The far, tree lined shore is the same...the tree root from the above photo is
to the right of the beach that is slightly wet above the photo edge....

What a difference a lack of snow can make...

  1. Wow! I know we need snow and I hope there's a lot of it, just not here!

  2. Oh wow, what a difference. I assume the snow also helps the reservoirs for the drinking water out west too. Great shots, the top shot of the lake is beautiful.

  3. That is a real difference. Some things are changing so much. We are having the wettest winter in about 15 years here. And (and this may be a surprise) a fair amount of snow.

  7. Our snow is your water Pat!!!

Thanks Eileeninmd...and yes...our snow is one of the sources for drinking water in the LA area...which has spurred a controversial water rights fight between the town of Mammoth and LADWP...

Interesting Stewart! One thing about Mother Nature...she has a mind of her own!!

    Yep! Thanks for visiting Gary!

I imagine it has an impact on your cattle grazing up there in Alberta Linda...

Thanks Jean! It's not really scary...our winters fluctuate...but what's been especially weird though is that last year (10-11) was a record snow year and this year was close to a record non snow year...I expect that this next winter will be somewhere in between!
