A Memorial Day Tribute...

"And I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
Lee Greenwood

(Yes Petrea...it's Memorial Day weekend, May 29...snowed all night and all day...over 6 inches total)

Friendly Reflections...

"A stranger is just a friend I haven't met yet."
Will Rogers

We've had the good fortune to meet five new wonderful friends...from Peru!!!
Thanks to the Rotary International Group Study Exchange, TheChief's Rotary group has
had a whirlwind few days meeting and enjoying the company of five delightful new friends.

Joanne, a fellow Rotarian, and also a new friend in Mammoth, is taking Carmen's picture in
Bodie State Historical Park.

A lovely day to reflect on for years to come...

Update!!!

Another New Friend???

Now don't get any ideas...

...she is not a new family member...

...just an absolutely precious pup Pat ("Bibi") and I saw at Starbucks when we met
the other day!!!

In case you're wondering...her human told us that she's a Labradoodle...
and what a well behaved little one she was too!!!

"S" is for Serbia and Sharing in Rotary's International Exchange!!!

Pat...aka "Bibi" of  Yankee-in-Belgrade Daily Photo Blog surprised me with a call saying she was in Bishop visiting an old friend.  We arranged to get together and met yesterday at Starbucks...
(Our local Looney Bean is closed pending remodel and change of ownership)
I also had the opportunity of meeting her friend from high school who has lived in Bishop for quite some time!!!

Then....later...at our house...

Part-y!!!  PART-Y!!!  Part-y!!!

Last night, we had the pleasure of hosting a dinner party for the
Rotary Group Study Exchangevisiting from Peru.
They came up from Bishop (it's a small world...Pat's friend hosted a dinner party for the Bishop Rotary and GSE team the night before!) and will be staying through Saturday.
Dinner was at our house...and wouldn't you know...those Peruvians sure like to party...
and the Mammoth noon club was right there partying along side!!!

Great day with a new friend!!!

Went out today shooting pics with a new friend up here who shares a love of photography...

I've been experimenting with the metering mode on my Nikon...
this was taken with the spot meter...with the focal point on the flowers...
The challenges here was that it was pretty windy...I wanted the flowers in front to be clear and the mountains blurred...pretty much got what I was looking for, with a bit of wind interference in the flowers...
But if you look real close...that's not dust on the lens in the middle...that's a bee!!!
