Beautiful, but COLD, eh? Has this been a typical snow year or more or less? I remember 2 years ago you guys had a LOT of snow, but last year was just a little above normal. How is this year looking? We always get up your way as soon as school is over in June. CAN'T WAIT!!!
Trav4Adventures...This was taken during the week that the temps were 32 degrees or colder all week! So yeah...it was definitely cold!!! As for our snow levels...this is a pretty normal snow year...last year was just about the worst snow year in 40 years...the year before, the most snow in 40 years...or some such number!!! When Dave McCoy founded Mammoth..he was a hydrologist for LA Water and Power. He discovered that our "Mountain" gets the most snow anywhere in the US, generally speaking! So he started Mammoth ski resort with one rope tow....many, many years ago!!! And its been growing ever since!!! When you come up here...shoot me an email and we can meet for coffee!!!
Your photo captures the feeling of a storm coming. I love it! I always feel a sense of wildness or something like it when I watch weather like that coming. I will have to look at all of your blog,it must be awesome!
I seem to have fallen behind and have enjoyed all your photos last week. (I am writing this on Monday.) This one of the mountain is so interesting. Unusual slopes. Love it.
What a beautiful gift you got! Enjoy it.

What a pretty (albeit cold looking) winter scene. I really like how you can see the snowstorm so far away.
