"I want to lead the Victorian life,
surrounded by exquisite clutter."
Freddie Mercury
Hmmm...I'm not so sure I'd call my clutter exquisite...I guess I'm halfway there!!!
One of my favorite things about Monterey is the preponderance of
Victorian homes scattered throughout the area...
...so charming!!!

drømmested å bo ! :-)
ReplyDeleteJeg er enig Dirk! Jeg ville elske å våkne opp i et rom opp på toppen med en av disse arker
DeleteI agree Dirk!!! I'd love to wake up in a room up at the top with one of those dormers!!!
A terrific shot of an outstanding residence!
ReplyDeleteA spectacular house!
ReplyDeleteThis house has gone through several incarnations...initially it was a doctor's house...and office!!! The stained glass window above the door says Dr. Hall...the original owner!!! After his family finally sold the house, it became several different types of businesses...the current owners bought it and have restored it to a residence and are continually restoring it.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of a truly exquisite house! The detail is beautiful.
ReplyDeletePerfect B&W contribution, love it!
ReplyDeleteHadn't heard that quote. Like it! Super shot to go with it. Snappy looking house. Love those Victorian lines.
ReplyDeleteOur version of the charming English cottages you keep showing on your blog!!!
DeleteLots of paintwork! I agree, it does look exquisite.
ReplyDeleteTrue...definitely an expensive upkeep!!!
DeleteI'm digging those windows, especially that little dormer up high!
ReplyDeleteI know! I like having the doc's name above the door!!!
DeleteThis is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it just beg you to come in for afternoon tea?
DeleteThe Victorians there are quite nice! Did you know that there are more surviving Victorians in Alameda than in any other city in California? You would enjoy visiting Ferndale, near Eureka. The entire downtown is made up of Victorian buildings- driving down the main street, you'd think you had steeped back into the 19th century!
ReplyDeleteI think I've been in Ferndale...on the way home from Oregon a few years back!!!
DeleteI'll have to check out Alameda some day...of course...it doesn't come with the magnificent ocean of Monterey Bay though!!!
Wow, all those angles! Takes some serious woodworking skills to build one of these!
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure!!! And a good painter too!!!
DeleteWhat a great find! It would actually be just perfect for my weekly meme, Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! I'm posting a new one tonight, I'd be honored if you linked up, at http://iwishiwereaphotographer.blogspot.co.il/
ReplyDeleteWow, that was fast - thanks so much for linking up! Welcome aboard :)
