I don't think JFK had Bodie in mind when he made this statement...
Bodie, California should definitely be on your list of places to visit 
if you come to California...
a ghost town in a state of "arrested decay"...
a fascinating place...showing life in the days of the California Gold Rush...

      It is Dragonstar!!! Occasionally during the year they'll have photographer days where they only allow photographers to come in and shoot...for an extra price of course!!! Some day, I'd like to go there when there's snow (probably too late for that this year!!!) You can't get there driving in then...you have ski, snow mobile, or arrange for a "cat" to take you in.... one of these days!!!

    There seem to be quite a few ghost towns scattered around the USA Chieftess, reminders of better days past.

      I'm not sure if these were better days PerthDP!!! Bodie was quite the wild, wild west town in its hey day!!! Lot's of brothels, saloons, murders, and a small smattering of churches to repent in!!! There's a famous quote from a little girl's diary that she wrote just before moving to Bodie..."Goodbye God, I'm going to Bodie."
