Thanks Trish!!! I've been having problems with my software...the connections to the photos get lost and I can't access the photos...probably too many photos to keep straight!!!
I do have a Mac Wayne...the problem's actually not with the computer...it's my photo software...well...if I'm really honest...it's more like a user problem!!! I kept doing something that disconnected my photos from the software, then my photos were all over the place...I'm re-doing my files now in a more organized fashion!!! Should be back up and running tomorrow!!!
What I have had to do is keep a totally separate disc of photos. I bought a new laptop last year and out of 600GB, I already used 575GB, mostly with photos (not even ALL of my photos). Offload to a 1TB external drive and viola, things move more smoothly.
Actually Trish...that was one of my problems! I have an external hard drive and was storing them on it, not my computer. Every time the computer was turned off, it lost the thread to the hard drive. I had no real organization on the hard drive and so the photos got lost. With something like 30,000 photos, it was a bit daunting to try to find them. When we got back from the Galapagos I had lost the connection to all my other photos so I can't post anything but Galapagos!!! (Although now I can't post that either because I deleted all my photos to start over! Fortunately I save all my cards and I'll be downloading this afternoon and tomorrow!!!)
LOL...iTunes has the same problem for me--has lost its instruction set on how to get back home. sigh. It really shouldn't be this tough! Then again, I speak from being a former software engineer...I know of what I speak.
people give me crap about saving my cards instead of reusing them. Uhm yeah, this would be why I do that. A third form of backup, just in case, you know, a drive-eating hack eats up my files I don't want to lose that last pic of Grandma!
oooh, serious suckage!
ReplyDeletewhich reminds me, I need to do an offsite backup of mine!
good luck!

ReplyDeleteI assume you're using a PC Kathy. If so, you need a Mac. :-)
ReplyDeleteDitto Wayne.
ReplyDeleteHaving to reload is one thing, losing files is quite another! I hope it's not too bad.

Glad to see you're back w/pics!
That's exactly why I save my cards Trish!!! I figure keeping them is like saving your film!!! Can't go wrong with the original!!!
