Great shot for theme day.Sydney - City and Suburbs
Those ol' p.o. boxes totally remind me of my p.o. box at St. Olaf College --several years ago!
Ooh, these mailboxes are very cool. Looks like something we'd see in an old B&W movie. Perfect for theme day :-D
What wonderful patterns they make.
IF I'd remembered, I'd have posted similar old mailboxes...but I didnt'.V
I forgot to add that I love the BW. Very vintage!V
Thanks JBar!!! No Star Trek mail here!!!Love those college memories Leif!!!Thank you Kaori! It's a post office display in the Laws Railroad Museum in Bishop CA...it's about circa 1800's!Thank you LadyFi! Like minds Virginia!!! Generally I forget about Theme Day too!!!
I love the old boxes. They have so much more character than the metal prison looking ones we have now. Great shot.
this is a great shot and I remember these types of old mailboxes.
I agree Randy!!! I'd enjoy going to this post office to pick up my mail!!!The post office in Glendale, where we used to live, was an old one and has boxes like these...always loved that post office!!!Thank you Hiker!! I love noir!!!!
I love the angle you shot them from. A great subject but around here they're just dull and boring.
Thanks Linda!!! But I'm sure if you took pics of your post office boxes up there you'd have an interesting take on them too!!!
Love the mailboxes. This is such a great shot. Glad you went into the archives to share it with us. I could look at it over and over again. Great work.
Cool shot. Had a post office box for years and it had this elegant brass front.
Thanks Genie!!! It's one of my favorites! You're lucky OaklandDP! Not many of these around anymore!Thank you so much Cara...and thank your for visiting and commenting!
beautiful!my Grandpa used to have a PO box after he retired---I think as an excuse to get out of the house at least once a day. When the PO changed to keys, he bought the old box and kept it in his study.when I turned 18, I grabbed a PO box in SoPas, mostly because of their old dials. I still remember receiving a letter from a friend, now long dead, and standing on the steps out front, crying at the beauty of the letter. Not quite the same as opening an email from a friend...thanks for the memories!
Those are lovely memories Trish...I'm glad my photo triggered them!
this is a fantastic shot, perfect for black and white.
Thank you Justine!
