Great day with a new friend!!!

Went out today shooting pics with a new friend up here who shares a love of photography...

I've been experimenting with the metering mode on my Nikon...
this was taken with the spot meter...with the focal point on the flowers...
The challenges here was that it was pretty windy...I wanted the flowers in front to be clear and the mountains blurred...pretty much got what I was looking for, with a bit of wind interference in the flowers...
But if you look real close...that's not dust on the lens in the middle...that's a bee!!!

  5. Hiker...My friend Linda spotted the flowers...we walked and stooped and crawled on the ground...getting covered with little tiny stickers and lot's of dirt while trucks and cars sped past and Niisa (her fabulous Golden puppy) watched us from the car with longing!!!

  7. I love the top one with it's transition of blue to green to yellow. About the bee...I tried, I can't see it. Don't be so stingy on file size Chieftess ; )

  8. Get some new glasses, PA. The bee is right in front of you! Just to the right of dead center, and just below the mountain ridge top.

  10. Wonderful series. I like the combination of the yellow flowers and the blue mountains and sky. Nice to see you've shot a bee the way I shot a dragonfly. :-)
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend.

  11. Just to test you, what are the flowers called? I love all the Californian wildflowers, I don't think there's anywhere else in the world with as many different kinds. Great photos!
