Do you know...

...what kind of plant this is???

"Springtime is the land awakening.
The March winds are the morning yawn."
Quoted by Lewis Grizzard in
Kathy Sue Loudermilk, I Love You

I saw this odd plant in Monterey...
it almost looks like a hydrangea...but I don't think it is...
...do you know???

  1. Hi there - this plant is a type of Euphorbia (often called spurge) - although I can't tell you want sort. We used to have them outside of our house - but they are pollinated by flies, which is not a good welcome into the family home! Also, the sap can be an irritant to skin - so, if you need to get rid of the plant wear gloves!

    Nice picture by the way!

  2. How interesting Stewart!!! I've never heard of a plant that gets pollinated by flies!!! Too bad about the irritating sap...it's really quite attractive.

  11. Whoa -- it is a beautiful plant, but it was quite interesting and informative to read the comments. I would never have thought that this wonderful green plant could be bad.

    1. To think that this was in a flower box in the courtyard of our hotel in Monterey...odd that they would tolerate swarms of flies there!!!

  14. I'm glad to see someone knew the identity of this pretty little plant. Too bad it has so many bad qualities.

  15. I had no idea what this was either, love learning something new. And it's a pretty capture, despite the plant's cons.

  16. Till I read Stewart's comment, I had no idea what this may be. It has a rather surprising background it seems. And yet it is so delicate and pretty.
