"A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature.
It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature."
Henry David Thoreau
TheChief, Kelly and I took a little hike on Sunday to Emerald Lake...
No...it hasn't snowed for over a week...
but as you can see...it's starting to stick up in the mountains!!!
Kelly was so excited...she couldn't decide which she liked better...
playing in the snow or swimming in the lake!!!

Beautiful and heart-warming!
ReplyDeleteSnow - and Kelly looks so happy in it! What fun shots - and amazing scenery.
ReplyDeleteKelly sure look to have a great time.
ReplyDeleteIts so fun to see how the animals enjoy themself in the nature.
Here the snow is all the way down to the sea, and living like we do we probably will have it more or less til april :)
We'll have snow at least until April Siv-Anita!!! We've actually had skiing on July 4th, the middle of our summer here!!!
DeleteWhat a place to play, breathtaking beauty.
ReplyDeleteI love the mountain peeping out of the trees - our deserts may look the same, but we have nothing like this here!
ReplyDeleteStewart M - Melbourne
PS: although we do have snow - just not at this time of year!
It's your turn for Spring and Summer Stewart!!!
DeleteI must confess that I am looking forward to some snow this year. I can hardly believe that you have it already. Lovely shots :).
ReplyDeleteSmall snowfalls in October are pretty normal here...so are daytime temps in the mid 60's and sometimes even the low 70's (F)!!!
DeleteSo gorgeous - both the backdrop and the sweet pooch, I love that last one!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you have snow already, isn't it still autumn over there? Kelly is amazing , a real outdoorsy kind of doggy :)
ReplyDeleteThis is getting up to about 10000+ feet in altitude Grace...so the snow "sticks" more in the shade than down by town...in town it's still fall with beautiful color all around!!!
DeleteCute pup! You can tell she's having a great time. Nice reflections on your first photo.
ReplyDeleteI live in a ski town, but I've always enjoyed visiting Mammoth. I bet that lake was mighty chilly for a swim!
ReplyDeleteAhhh...you live in Breckinridge, CO!!! You're higher than we are...with Kelly's fur coat she doesn't seem to mind the cold water!!!
Deletedet er en vakker sted og da er den søte hunden igjen, klem :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous reflection! Kelly was obviously having fun!
ReplyDeleteShe really likes the cold. Boz used to lie by the heater. I don't think he would have liked the Sierras!
ReplyDeleteKelly's got more padding and fur than Boz had Petrea!!!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular scenery, and what a dog!
ReplyDeleteI have not been in the Sierras- one part of the West I have yet to see.
