Stormy Weather

"If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm,
you'll never enjoy the sunshine."
Morris West

Morris West was an Australian novelist and playwright...
His best known works were The Devil's Advocate and The Shoes of the Fisherman.
I remember seeing The Devil's Advocate...the one with Al Pacino
playing the Devil...
and I vaguely remember seeing The Shoes of the Fisherman
with Anthony Quinn...
Do you remember either of these???

For more participants in the Weekend in Black and here!

  1. This picture (and the one in the post before) are really great. Love the way the clouds snake over the sky.

    Stewart M - Australia

  2. Wonderful skywatch saturday!

    Have a great weekend!

  3. I love the huge sky and lonely landscape.

  4. A great dramatic composition Kathy.

  5. Thank you Stewart! the Black and White was from last year...I think I'm into clouds these days!!!

    Thanks for visiting Valladolid DP!!!

Thanks Hiker! There's a lot of that up here!!!

    Thank you Wayne!

  6. Hiker and Wayne have already pointed out what I love about this photo: the composition is like a mixture of the early days of cinematography and my wildest, most nostalgic dreams of the old west.

  7. Even the opposite is true - if you wait for the sun, you'll never enjoy the storm.

    Great shot!

  8. This is an awesome shot! Great post!

  9. Thank you Lachezar!!! Glad you stopped by!

Thanks Petrea! It does have a bit of the old west flare with the fence on the horizon!

Interesting twist LadyFi!!! And of course you're right!

Thank you HansHB and Robert! Glad you stopped by too!!

  10. Wow. That. Photo is so gorgeous.

  11. Amazing photo. The bottom third is complete in itself yet the additional sky adds so much more drama. Great quote too!

  12. This has a real Ansel Adams quality to it. Fantastic! I would love details of how you took it, e.g., filters, lens, camera, film or digital, etc.

  13. Thank you Pieces of Sunshine. We have magnificent clouds up here!

Thank You SoPasRef! I almost always use a polarizer filter...this one was shot with my Nikon d70s...with a Nikon lens...can't remember the mm...but a bit of a Lightroom processing...feel free to email me re: anymore questions!!!
