"It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light."
My thoughts and prayers go out to the survivors and family members of those who died
and were injured in the Connecticut school murders.
I hope that this tragedy will invoke discussion about ways in which our society
can change how we deal with the mentally ill.
What a beautiful photo and quote for today. Thanks for the reminder that light shines even on the darkest of days.ReplyDelete
Somewhere over the rainbow there is healing after such a sad day in all of our lives. This is a picture of hope. So beautiful. genieReplyDelete
Beautiful photo, and oh, such a tragedy.ReplyDelete
Beautiful scene and such timely words..such a heartbreaking tragedy.ReplyDelete
Thank you, Chieftess. Lovely quote and photo. I think we have nowhere to go but up, in how we deal with helping our mentally ill.ReplyDelete

Thank you Genie! I just realized that your name is also my middle name!!! I was named after both of my grandfathers...
Thank you Bibi...it is simply amazing what destruction one person can wreak on our communities...we have gone overboard here in the States in the rights for the mentally ill...to not take their medications etc...having worked with seriously disturbed adolescents, I recognize the value of psychotropic medications, and the tragedies that can happen when these people go off their meds...or are not treated properly.
Thank you Linnea
I hope so Adele!
Sometimes you don´t know who are mentally desturbed. I guess the use of weapens is a major problem. It is sad when kids can´t go to school without risking their lives. :(ReplyDelete
Lovely, peaceful photo.ReplyDelete
That's true NatureFootstep...but many of the brutal mass slayings have been perpetrated by individuals who have had a diagnosis, and often warning signs of violent behavior. My concern is that this at least open discussion about the failings of our mental health system (and mental health legislation) for the community and the individuals it serves...ReplyDelete
Thank you Hiker...your post about the media is spot on...
Thank you for this.ReplyDelete
