Boo!!!

"I definitely believe in ghosts."
Jenna Dewan

And Jenna should know!!!
(I suppose if I were more with it...I'd know who Jenna is!)

No...this isn't a Mammoth house...
The last time I was in Glendale I found this great yard!!!

There was a time when I decorated with ghosts hanging from the trees
and tomb stones in the yard...
I even taped a banshee cry!!!

I'm spoiled now...
Mammoth doesn't have street lights in any of the residential areas..
and a lot of vacant homes...
so trick or treating is relegated to one neighborhood...

They have a big box in Vons for candy donations to help out the neighborhood...
and in return for your donation...
you don't have to trick the tricksters by hiding in the back with the lights off!!!

  1. What fun that yard in Glendale is!
«Louis» likes what Von's does - that's a good solution and the kids probably have fun getting their candy there.

    1. It's actually in the neighborhood called the Trails...Vons gives the donated candy to whoever heads up the trick or treating and they all share it with whatever they've contributed. So it's definitely a contained area...but they still go door to door...

  2. That's a cool yard. When my boys were younger, I used to do a lot of decorating and we had a bunch of ghosts like this.
I've seen a new trend emerging here, 'Trunk or Treat', where people load the candy into the back of their cars and congregate at a shopping center. The kids walk from car to car and get their goodies.

    1. Maybe if I'd have had my own kids the fun of Halloween might have stayed with me longer...now I'm merely content to go out to dinner and skip the whole thing!!! I've heard of Trunk or Treat...I'm not all that sure that that would be any safer...

  6. I am laughing at Grace's comment! All our sweets are gone. I always hope for left-overs :). Your photo really take me back to a trip to Pasadena ages ago at Halloween. Saw quite a few gardens like this. A lot of effort involved. Love the shot, Kathryn.

  8. A very fun yard!

I don't have kids, so the day's different for me. My flatmate and I aren't expecting trick or treaters, and we're both out this evening as it is.

    1. When we lived down in Glendale, we'd often go to dinner just to avoid the trick or treaters...but I always had the good candy on hand in case we had some tricksters!!! We actually didn't have many when we were down there...
