What's Ailing Her???

"Cats are rather delicate creatures and they are subject to a lot of ailments,
but I never heard of one who suffered from insomnia."
Joseph Wood Crutch

When Sadie was a kitten, before we brought her home, she had a respiratory infection.
The shelter told us they were treating her and we could take her home when she was healthy...
We got her home and she's been a comedienne, Osama Bin Kat terrorist, and
sweet cuddle kitty...

Well...when we had the fires up by Shaver Lake and the one in Yosemite...
she started sneezing a lot...
I changed her litter from the dusty clay stuff to some stuff made out of corn
that's supposed to be dust free...
but she still sneezes morning and night...

Sooo yeah...I took her to the vet today...worried that she might have some
dreaded respiratory disease...
Lungs were clear...
no temperature...

Yep...just like mom...
she's got allergies!!!

Have you ever had a cat with allergies???

  3. No, but we have a 11-yr-old dog with allergies and she has been a rather expensive pet over the ten years we've had her. Next time, we're getting dog insurance. Your bitty kitty is very beautiful.

    2. I know every time I come to your blog lately I mention Boz, but you ask for it because you keep posting pictures of your pets.
Boz tended to get histamine tumors so he took antihistamine (we gave him the generic Benadryl). The pet will get drowsy at first but they build a tolerance.
Benadryl is diphenhydramine hcl. It's the same thing that's in non-habit-forming sleep tablets. Just buy what's cheapest.

  10. Not yet:) But our dog has allergies and gets benadryl (or zyrtec) - she loves peanut butter so we hide it in a bit of pb and let her lick it off a spoon. Your kitty has such a sweet face, hope she feels better in time!

  12. Poor Sadie! She sure is a cutie.
We do have a cat with allergies. Because of his medications for that and another issue, we have to take him with us on almost all of our travels. He snores like a sailor, and is always itching. As soon as we get home from where we are now, it's back to the vet he goes for some different medication.
