While the rest of the country is freezing...
we're a bit warmer than usual...and light on the snow and ice...
This is June Lake, taken from the side of the road heading into town...
But...continuing on through the rest of the June Lake Loop...
we found Silver Lake...
Not silver...but white...
a lot more shade and a little more altitude...
Not quite solid...I could see a few fissures in the surface...
Of course...
Kelly had to check out the ice...to see if she could stand on it...
She bounded out on the ice about 8 feet before I could get her attention to
come back to shore!!!

Keep Kelly safe!!
ReplyDeleteShe is!!! Fortunately...she didn't get out far enough to really be a problem!!!
DeleteHow lucky you are to have warmer-than-usual weather!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely know that!!! While we need snow...I'm grateful we're not experiencing the lows that you all on the East coast are experiencing....I know how cold you are!!!
DeleteYeah, we west-coasters have been lucky to avoid the cold temps. But I'd sure like to see some snow!
ReplyDeleteI rather like the lack of snow...but know in my heart how much we need it here in California...
Deleteså fine bilder ! savner snø !
ReplyDeleteVi trenger mer snø!!!
DeleteWe do need more snow!!!
Kelly is probably contemplating some ice fishing!
ReplyDeleteIt may be warmer than usual, but it looks darn cold to me! Nice photos Kathryn.
I hope you had a great and happy holiday season.
Either that or ice skating!!! And yes...it's still cold...just not remotely as cold as our East Coast neighbors are Pat!
DeleteStill looks cold.... Good thing you got Kelly to come back; horrible if she'd fallen in.
ReplyDeleteI panicked when she ran out there...the stories I've heard about falling in the ice is more often a dog than a person...
DeleteWow. Very nice shots. Glad Kelly didn't venture out too far. Aloha
ReplyDeleteAloha!!! I'll bet it's warm where you are!!!
DeleteCrazy weather gave you some great photo opportunities. Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks LOL!!!
DeleteI'm pleased Kelly was safe! Love your second photo - I don't like the cold but it sure does look pretty. Pleased your area isn't struck with the current cold snap.
ReplyDeleteSo am I Karen!!!
DeleteGorgeous shots! Love the second one! We're a bit chilly... -4 with a wind chill of -25. Should start heading back to normal over the next couple of days.
ReplyDeleteBrrrr...don't like that wind chill!!! Stay warm Brian!!!
