Nope...this wasn't taken last Spring, Summer or Fall...
Can you believe this was yesterday? In the same area as the below photo?
Now the next pic was taken in October, three years ago...
and truth be told...this area had snow here this year in October too...
But by mid January that year,
Daisy (yes...she was still alive) and I had to climb up the snow bank to get to the "dog park"!
About 2 feet or more!!!
It's been announced that there will be mandatory water rationing
throughout California...
Now...having grown up and lived my life primarily in Southern California,
drought isn't really new...
but I've never lived these weather conditions up here...
where it's supposed to be deep in snow at this time of year...
Fortunately...there's a bit more snow a little higher up.
The "dog park" area is at about 7500' altitude...
we live at approximately 8000'...the mountain tops here...
about 10,000'...
and Mammoth Mountain...over 11,000 feet...
so yeah...the mountain has some snow...
And...it's pretty cold at night...
so the mountain is also making snow...
and did I mention?
It was reported to me that the snow boarders who competed at the Olympic trials
said the snow was great!!!

Beautiful, beautiful shots, Kathrynn,
ReplyDeleteThank you Bibi!!!
DeleteIt is gorgeous, love that fenceline running on and on - but yes, the weather's been pretty crazy this winter!
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure the weather's completely crazy...in California we've suffered from droughts throughout my lifetime...personally...I think Mother Nature is just reminding us who's in control!!!
DeleteYeah, it's been a dry winter so far in Oregon too. Luckily, our mountains got a big dump of snow the weekend before last or we'd really be hurting. Do your rain and/or snow dances!
ReplyDeleteWe actually have had some snow prayer/dance ceremonies up here!!! Haven't worked yet...but rumor has it in another week or two we might just get some!!!
DeleteThey are magnificent shots.
ReplyDeleteShall we export some snow your way?
That would be delightful William!!!
DeleteWhat a beautiful corner of our world !
ReplyDeleteThanks Gattina!!!
DeleteBeautiful - but another reminder of how we need our winter rain!
ReplyDeleteI know you know << Louis >>!!

ReplyDeletethanks Joe!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is really almost shocking not to see much snow. Nevertheless, the scenery look beautiful.

I heard about the water restrictions, I hope you guys get some snow soon, those mountains need to load up! I do enjoy looking at your world!!
ReplyDeleteI agree Woody!!! It's definitely time to start the rain and snow dancing!!!
