It's been a tough start...
Many of you may remember that our Kelly came to us with a need for knee surgery...
No...it wasn't an ACL or an injury...it was a congenital problem called a
luxated patella.
In a nutshell...the groove the tendon rested in that controlled the patella was not deep
enough and it would dislocate periodically...
a typical Golden Retriever issue and the same issue as our friend Petrea's Boz had
when she got him many years ago...(Petrea of PasadenaDailyPhoto)
Well...she had the surgery 4 weeks ago...
Today she went to the vet for her xrays to see how she's healing...
The vet said she's doing great!!! It's healing on schedule...
But much to Kelly's chagrin...she's still on restricted activity...
But she's gonna have a cool scar...
And even with all the visits to the vet with surgery and boarding most recently...
she loves everybody at the vet...
she wiggled and bounded right up to the vet the first visit after the surgery...
he patted her and said "Don't you know you're supposed to be afraid coming here???"
Nah...not our Miss Kelly...she's glad to see them every time she goes there!!!

It Was Quite an Adventure!!!
Sadie and Cleo got to go outside today for the first time since we've been up here in Mammoth Lakes.
Down south, they were both indoor/outdoor kitties. They loved sitting on the patio and cruising the yard.
For the most part, they stayed in the yard....
When we first got to Mammoth, our home up here had a huge and wonderful deck off the second floor
which was our main living area...the deck was high enough that the cats could go out and enjoy the sun
without really being out in the "wild".
But here we are in our new home...yes...we have a deck, but it's off the first floor and has steps down
to the slate patio below. So...the dilemma...do we let the cats out?
Today they went outside...we were all out there. Kelly, TheChief and me...Cleo and Sadie...
Sadie was in hog heaven...
literally!!!! She rolled and rolled in the dirt...then she explored...with me following and
bringing her back close to the house whenever she got a bit too far...
Cleo wandered a bit but stayed close to home...
And was completely tuckered out when she got back in!!!

You've Got Mail!!!
When someone new makes a comment on my blog, I generally click on their
"name" and check to see if they also have a blog. This time I clicked on
He has an interesting blog and his last post was for the meme "Sunday Series"...one I'd not
seen before. His post was about how "snail-mail" is dwindling in popularity and
because of that post offices all over the country, like the one in his city, are closing.
He showed some lovely photos of what looks like a true treasure...

Find the Doe!!!
Think of this post as one of those drawings where you have to look and look
to find the hidden animals...
In this case, she's a doe that spent the morning behind our new home...
Kelly and I were sitting on the back deck, reading and watching the trees grow...
when I spotted her behind a stand of bushes...
Darn the yappy dog next door...she might have joined us if it wasn't yapping all morning!!!
