A Blight in California History...

Manzanar tower

"I am an invisible man...
I am a man of substance, of flesh and bone, fiber and liquids -
and I might even be said to possess a mind.
I am invisible, understand,
simply because people refuse to see me."
Ralph Ellison
The Invisible Man

  1. Oi, I can't read articles such as your Wiki link without tears welling up. This is such a shameful episode in American history (and I speak as an American citizen).

  2. It's a terrific shot. I am quite familiar with Manzanar... and it is a shameful moment in American history.

  3. Nice shot. Really like the perspective. And it looks great in black and white.

  4. Excellent shot and effective in BW. I had no idea that this existed, until I saw The Manzanar Fishing Club, a documentary film.

  8. Fantastic photo! That was a terrible time. About 25 years ago, while working in Washington DC, the National Museum of American History had a huge exhibit on this subject. It was terrible thing we did, to some VERY patriotic citizens. The most decorated U.S. military unit of all time, was the 442nd. Infantry Regiment during WW2. Ironically, that unit was totally made up of Japanese Americans.
