Before you get to Mammoth, there's a turn-off to Convict Lake...it's only about 2 miles off the 395 and is a great spot for camping and fishing...and eating!!! One of the best restaurants in the area is at Convict Lake, right by the campground...stay tuned for pics down the road!!!
Oh goodie, I'm first so I get to say that I can't think of a better place for Le Chief to hang out than Convict Lake! HAR!!!ReplyDelete
What's with the name? Is there a good story there?ReplyDelete
I wonder how it got the name?ReplyDelete
After I posted the pic, I thought to myself...I need to find out how the lake got it's name!!!ReplyDelete
And it's a fav of both the current chief of Bishop and our dear Chief Dan...
Love the shimmery light on the lake. Gotta eat at the restaurant one of these days!ReplyDelete
here is a really good write-up on how the lake got its name. There is also a plaque on the lake side, just past the bridge going toward the campground.
PS - V's comment is so funny. Excellent association. :)ReplyDelete
