  1. absolutely love the tones you have used here, that looks such a great place. I am in Canterbury in Kent and we are just seeing signs of spring.

  3. thank you Justine and Violet Sky!!! I use Lightroom for processing and this is a "faded photo" preset...it's one of my favorites!!! This was taken in early fall and the trees all had a brownish tinge so the real color just wasn't all that great...so, I played!!!

Glad you stopped by to visit VioletSky!!! I clicked over to your blog as well and very much enjoyed your pics!!!

  4. Kathryn, I love this photo and the special processing is perfect for this scene... It almost looks like a travel ad from the 60s...

"Crossing bridges" quote is one that I need to tape to my computer!

  6. Thanks Genie!!! That's what I like about this preset...it has a very vintage feel to it...as if it were an old photo...

Thank you Carolyn and welcome to MLDP!!!

  7. That's a great shot with the trees and hillside slanting up to the left. Nice job with the colors, too. I like the shadows of the bridge on the snow and ice.

  8. But let's say, for reason of argument, it is a good idea to cross the bridge before you're there. What is the technique, I wonder. And could we line up all life's bridges, and spend, say, a six month period doing nothing but crossing them, getting them out of the way, once and for all.

  9. Welcome Pat!!!

Ahhhh....Hiker...you do like to stir the pot, eh??? Though I do like the idea of getting all those bridges crossed once and for all!!!!

  10. Neat photo! The shadow makes this photo even nicer. :)

  11. Ahh Hiker it doesn't look like you even NEED the bridge to cross. I, too, love the tones in this shot.

  12. thank you EG Wow!!!

Linda...you may be right...when this shot was taken, Hiker could easily just "walk on water"!!!

  13. I was thinking, the elegant lalique and your gorgeous falling-down farmhouse would look stunning, framed next to each other.

  14. I agree with all; the photo is gorgeous. But I have to argue that the snow does not look troubled.

Now why is my WV "shamu?"

  15. Quite a contrast, eh, Hiker???!!!

Thanks Petrea...perhaps the bridge is over troubled waters because Shamu is under the ice/snow???

  16. I am just now learning Photoshop. Have Lightroom, but it will come later. My daughter uses her own presets and does such lovely work. Maybe one day I will get the hang of it all. This preset gave you a gorgeous picture post card shot. It is absolutely lovely. Wonderful capture and composition.

  17. Like everyone here, I like the post processing. And you started with a lovely composition of the bridge over snow with its shadow.

  18. Thank you Genie! Lightroom is sooooo much easier than photoshop!!! I only use photoshop for things like text or shapes (see today's goofy post!)...photoshop is way to complex and way more than I need or want...LR is almost perfect!!!

Thank you Francisca and welcome!!! I visited your site and thoroughly enjoyed peeking into your fascinating life!!! You've lived in so many wonderful places!!!
