Birds of...Ice???

These are some hearty birds!!!

If my Grandma was still alive and watching these birds...she'd know what kind they are...
and why they're in the icy water in the middle of January!!!
I'm not a birder...but lately...I seem to be getting lot's of bird photo ops!!!

  4. we have a friend like that---if we don't know the answer we look at each other and say "Ask Sue!".

Can't blow the pic up enough to see them well, but they almost look like coots, which, I didn't think were all that sturdy a bird.

Reminds me of a line from Fried Green Tomatoes:
"One time, there this this lake and it was right outside of town. We used to go fishin' and swimmin' and canoein' in it, and this one November this flock o'ducks came in and landed on that lake, and the tempurature dropped sp fast that the lake froze right there and then the ducks, they flew off ya see and took the lake with them now they say that lake is over in Georgia... 5. They look like they're having fun, don't they? And a couple look like they're ice skating. Maybe they are -- crows go tobogganing.
