Carbon Dioxide? Volcanic Activity? Why didn't someone tell me BEFORE I moved up here!!!

This past weekend we went up to Horseshoe Lake with our visitors, my step-daughter Melissa and her significant other, Tim.  When we got there we were surprised to see an entire area of dead trees.  No sign of fire, no weird beetle bugs, simply put...high levels of volcanic carbon dioxide emissions.

Yep...Mammoth, or Horseshoe Lake to be precise, has been experiencing a steady high level of carbon dioxide gas emissions.  The people who monitor these things have assured us that the levels have not shown any increases since 1996...

Still, it's a bit unnerving...especially after having just visited Pompeii...

  2. I think I'd be scared too. Though I think Manila's pollution is just as bad. :(

  4. Compared to the whole of Mammoth Mountain, this is a very small area...it's just weird how these trees have all died and yet the green totally surrounds it!
