River of Gold...


Driving up the 395 heading into Mammoth I spotted what looked like a River of Gold...

  2. Poppies? Too late in the season. Whatever it is, it's magnificent country you're living in.

  3. The color comes from Quaking Aspens that are changing colors. The mountains and valleys are covered with them. They turn when the first frost comes and provide bright flashes of color. Poppies bloom in the Spring. The aspens in this shot are alongside the Sherwin Creek as it winds down the mountain.
